Privacy-First Verification: Why We Never Store PII
Why privacy-first verification matters
Traditional identity verification systems store sensitive personal data — document images, dates of birth, full names — creating massive data liabilities for companies. Every stored record is a breach waiting to happen.
At stile, we took a fundamentally different approach. Our verification pipeline returns only an eligibility signal — compliant or not compliant — without ever storing the underlying PII. This means zero data liability for your team, and zero risk of exposing user identity data in a breach.
How the eligibility signal works
When a user completes verification, our system processes their document and liveness check in real-time. The document data is verified against jurisdiction-specific rules, and the result is distilled into a simple boolean signal. The raw data is discarded immediately — it never touches your database or ours.
This architecture is compliant by design with GDPR, CCPA, and emerging data minimization regulations worldwide. You get the compliance check you need without becoming a custodian of sensitive identity data.
